Prevent and manage diabetes the S.M.A.R.T. way. This virtual presentation will provide an overview of important factors related to diabetes, including diet, exercise, medications, and social and emotional influences. Participants learn to prevent or manage diabetes by setting Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely (S.M.A.R.T.) goals. This session will be presented by an innovative team of professionals and pre-professionals through the Interprofessional Diabetes Education and Awareness (IDEA) Initiative at Nova Southeastern University. A link to the Zoom meeting will be provided upon enrollment.
Nova Southeastern University seeks to address the pressing needs of diabetes management and prevention by cultivating the knowledge and experience of interprofessional healthcare teams and leveraging the networks and capacities of partnering organizations. They are sponsoring a series of community programs with the hope to increase awareness about diabetes and provide practical lessons to improve the health of the participants and their families. Each seminar is a free, one-hour long session that is open to the community. There will be a Q&A portion at each session where you can ask health professionals questions about diabetes management.
